I have fallen in love with Melissa Ferguson and I don’t care who knows it haha! Her novels are so stinkin’ cute and funny, and clean!!! I have read every (one except for one I will read next month) she has out and can’t wait for her release next year! Check them out last month and here!
“The Cul-De-Sac War” was so cute. I know I keep saying her books are cute but seriously, they just are. If you need some easy, happy, everything works out kind of stories, then this is for you! Bree is a small town actress, with a new neighbor next door to her in the cul-de-sac. Of course he handsome yet completely annoying, his humongous dog tackles her on a daily basis, so she takes on the business of trying to get him to move. It is a hilarious back and forth between them that turns into more. 🙂
Eh, “Part of Your World” will go on my “not recommended list” based solely on too much trashy content and language. It was one of those that drew you in quickly, but it just isn’t the kind of read that I would prefer to spend my time on. Cute story about a professional doctor woman getting stuck on the side of the road in the middle of no where, and falls in love with the random country guy who pulls her out. They struggle to figure out how to fit into each other’s lives, realizing that on paper, it just can’t work. I really liked the storyline and watching them figure out how to become a part of each other’s worlds, but my standards are a bit higher than this one hehe!
“Don’t Give Your Enemy a Seat at Your Table” was a good follow up to my last read. I enjoyed listening to how we get to chose how to spend our time, and chose what to allow at our table that influences us. So much of our struggle is a battle of the mind here in this life, and he had a lot of good suggestions for winning over things like negativity, shame, insecurity…advice on using your time well, taking control of your thinking and finding purpose in your life.
“The Dating Charade” was so cute, another win from Melissa Ferguson and the chick lit genre! Cassie has pretty much given up on dating and trying to find “the one,” but this one firefighter catches her attention one day, and ends up having a dating profile on a dating site she uses. Jett ends up being an old high school friend, and they reconnect. Cassie works at a girls’ club and ends up taking in some girls when their mom leaves them, and Jett also has his own nephews and nieces that he takes in, so there is this sweet storyline of fostering and adoption worked in as well. It was fun reading about their ups and downs of miscommunication and then when everything finally works out for them.
I read “The Simplicity of Cider” solely based on the title haha, because it’s fall, so of course a book about apple cider is appropriate! This one was “ok” for me, but not awful either. Sanna in working on her family’s apple orchard, which has been passed down for many generations. She loves making cider, and has this special ability to see colors linked to the flavors of the cider. She lives for these apples, nothing else matters. Then enters Isaac and his son, who come to work on the farm, escaping their troubled lives for the summer. Life becomes complicated when Sanna’s dad is injured, and then her brother wants to sell the farm, and then someone begins to sabotage her trees. Will there be a way to save the apple orchards? Will Isaac stay? It was cute, but not my favorite this month.
“The Time Around” was a trio of short stories, overall I enjoyed them. The first one was about a girl bringing a restored Chevy to her grandparent’s house with her ex-boyfriend, so you can imagine how that driving adventure went. 😉 The second was about a girl whose parents were working a Christmas tree farm for another family, and the owner of the land stops and comes to help out when he father is sick. Theo was actually in “Cul-de-sac Wars” if I remember correctly so that was really cute seeing his story unfold. The third story was about a girl working a flower shop, and two guys start vying for her attention. All three were quick, cute and fun!
I feel like this month with some personal things going on, I really needed some happy easy reads, and thankfully I found a pretty good list of them! This whole month was a lot of happy. 🙂
