Quite a mix of genres this month, but a lot of good reads! Hope you find something that interests you!
I have read most of B.A. Paris’ books, and thought “The Guest” was a pretty good one! A couple comes home to find her closest friend at their house, distraught from leaving her husband. They feel awful about making her leave, so she stays, and overstays her welcome…So many secrets, twists and turns in this one, is this friend really who she seems to be?
I have really enjoyed listening to Gretchen Rubin’s books this year. “The Happiness Project” was a great read, listening to how Gretchen devoted a year to finding happiness in different areas of her life. A lot of great ideas about being present, making small changes that can have big effects and making practical goals that can enhance your life overall.
I read “Divine Rivals” earlier this year, so reading the sequel, “Ruthless Vows” was a no brainer in my opinion! Iris returned home without Roman, with a war still raging and far from being over. Since Dacre took Roman, Roman hasn’t been able to remember his life before. He begins writing for Dacre though, and eventually gets connected with Iris again, and through risking everything, they try to change the outcome of this war.
Sarah Adams has become one of my favorite authors this year, I have really enjoyed reading all of her rom-coms so far! “The Off-Limits Rule” was really cute, and has a sequel to follow! Lucy, being a single mom and left with no other alternatives, moves in with her older brother. Of course, Drew has a really good looking friend, that he has decided is “off limits” for Lucy. You can imagine how all of that will play out. 🙂
Ooooo I really liked “First Lie Wins.” Evie has it all, a great boyfriend and fabulous life. The catch with this though, is that “Evie” doesn’t really exist, it was a name and assignment given to her by a “Mr. Smith.” This assignment turns out to be different for her though, and she begins to wonder if she could go back to her old life, or at least have a different life. So many lies abound, I read through this one pretty quick because I was so curious to see how it would end!
I really have enjoyed reading Devon Daniels this year too! “The Rom Con” was super cute, and I immediately put her other book on hold after reading this one! Cassidy is a writer for a women’s journal, and after being over dating, her grandmother gives her a 1950s guide to dating handbook, that she decides to put into use and then write an article about. She makes her mark, Jack, who just happens to writes for an opposing men’s online website, and puts these ideas into action. It has a very “Losing a Guy in Ten Days” feel to it, I loved seeing how everything worked out, or in some cases, backfired haha…
I listened to “The Pocket Guide to The Polyvagal Theory” and thought it was so interesting. Learned a lot about the autonomic nervous system, the response system that we don’t have control over, and how it relates to depression, anxiety etc. It helped a lot in just understanding some of the responses that we have seen in our own household to stressful situations, and how to handle them.
