April is here! Pretty good lineup for this month!
I’m still working on reading through the Throne of Glass series, and “Heir of Fire” was next up! This one probably isn’t one of my favorites from the series, more language than I’d like, but I enjoy the storyline of Aelin figuring out who she really is and all that entails. Rowan hits the scene in this book, so I also enjoy seeing their relationship begin and grow!
I have really enjoyed listening to Gretchen Rubin books this year, and “The Four Tendencies” was really interesting. She has grouped people within four personality categories, which in turn helps you learn more about yourself, and how you deal with stress, make decisions, work, play etc. It was really insightful for myself, but also just understanding other people too. I always enjoy a good personality read. 😉
“Where We Belong” was a cute book, I enjoy reading Sarah Bennett’s books, but they’re probably not some of my first picks if that makes sense. Hope lives in a farmhouse with her mom, and some extended family. They decide to expand their Juniper Meadows farm, and when the construction crew uncovers some historical foundational work, it brings in an expert from nearby to do an archeological survey, who of course is good-looking and smart, so you can imagine how that all works out. 😉
I love Melissa Ferguson. Like love her. Her books are squeaky clean, and always very cute. I read “How to Plot a Payback” on a girls trip this month, and it was the perfect read. Finn has landed the job of his career doing screen-writing for a new sit-com in Hollywood. The only downfall? He has to work with the actress, Lavender Rhodes, who has been ruining his life at every turn, ever since they were in school together. He decides that this is the perfect opportunity to plot the pay back she deserves, only plan after plan continues to back fire. Super cute read, funny too!
I read “The Queen’s Rising” this month and really enjoyed this too! Not sure that this measures up to “Divine Rivals” standards, but it was still a good read. Brienna lives in a house where she must choose a “Passion” to perfect her talents on, and then be chosen to move out of the house when she turns 17 to work with a “Patron.” The only problem, is that she has struggled to choose a Passion, and ends up not being chosen to work with a Patron. Eventually, she is asked to work with a man who isn’t looked upon very fondly, but since he is her only option, she says yes. She ends up being pulled into plans to overthrow the king, using her magic to bring the rightful Queen into power.
“The Gentleman’s Gambit” is the fourth book in the League of Extraordinary Women series. These four women are fighting for women’s rights in the 1800s, and it is Catriona’s turn to find love. She is at her father’s house in Scotland, and comes to know her father’s work colleague, Elias. Catriona, being a scholar herself, is a tough nut to crack, but Elias is up for the challenge.
I really enjoyed listening to “Breath” this month. It is amazing to me how much breathing, or not breathing correctly, can effect our overall health. How the anatomy of our facial spaces, mouth and airways can dictate the quality of life we may or may not have. We have been addressing myofunctional work with our boys, and how airway issues can influence anxiety and other things, sleep and well being, so this was highly applicable to our family right now. I now notice people mouth breathing every where I go haha, and I just want to run over and say, “Close your mouth, breathe through you nose!!!” haha!
