Fun line up this month! Read a couple of psychological thrillers, couple of cute rom coms, and another Shopaholic! Happy reading friends!
“What Alice Forgot” was an interesting read…Alice is at the gym and falls and hits her head hard, wakes up thinking that she is 29 and pregnant. She completely forgets that she has three kids, is separated from her husband, and all of the other things that have happened in her life within the last decade. She recognizes none of her friends, doesn’t know her new boyfriend, has no idea why she doesn’t get along with her sister…this wasn’t a scary book at all, more of just an interesting read and wondering how it’s all going to play out, whether she will remain who she was or return to the newer, not as nice version hehe. (Some language in this one too by the way.)
“The It Girl” was pretty good too… Hannah meets April during her first year at Oxford, they end up getting assigned to room together. April lives a pretty big life, she’s from a very wealthy family, loves to play jokes on people…she’s one of those people that draw others to her. By the end of their first year though, she is found dead. Fast forward ten years, where Hannah is married to Will and they are expecting their first baby. The receive news that the man convicted for April’s murder has died in prison, and then a journalist contacts Hannah, telling her that he believes the man wasn’t guilty. Hannah dives into a personal investigation, to figure out what really happened to April all those years ago. This one had more language in it than I’d prefer, just a heads up on that front.
“Without a Hitch” was super cute! Lottie’s boyfriend breaks up with her during their senior year, and she is left wondering what to do with herself, as her plans have drastically changed. She decides to get involved with wedding planning, and works her way up in her company. Lottie always seems to be saving the day at these weddings, as so many of the clients are a a little eccentric in their decor choices and celebrations. She meets a handsome guy along the way, vies for a position in a new branch of their company, and overcomes so many fears when she has to plan her ex fiance’s wedding. This was a nice change from the last two books I read, and was a really clean read from what I can remember!
I loved “Nora Goes Off Script.” Another really cute rom com, Nora is a screen writer for movies that you would see on the Hallmark channel. Her husband leaves her, and she is floundering trying to make ends meet, since he had devastated their finances before taking off. She writes a hit movie, that features her tea house that the previous owner had built a hundred years ago, so the movie company wants to film a portion of the movie there. The lead actor, Leo, is the most handsome man alive, and once the movie filming wraps up, Nora finds him sitting on her porch swing. He begs her to let him stay, as he needs some time, and she says yes. He says he is only staying seven days, so you’ll have to read the book to see if that remains true or not. 😉
Ended the month with the ultra hilarious “Mini Shopaholic.” I think I laughed more in this book than any of her others, there were just so many hilarious moments in this one. Becky’s daughter, Minnie, is two years old, and turning into quite the demanding child. She creates turmoil where ever she goes, gets kicked out of Santa’s Wonderland, banded from other stores haha…they are still living with Becky’s parents, and then of course there is a national financial crisis. Luke decides that they need a professional nanny to come help, all the while, Becky is planning the biggest surprise birthday party ever for Luke. This was probably one of my favorites of her novels so far!
