I know I keep saying that this or that was one of my favorite things of the trip, but this day was also one of my favorites haha… We ventured up to La Jolla to see sea lion cove, at lunch George’s roof top, visited the aquarium and hit up a Padre’s game! It was such a fun day!
We headed to La Jolla this morning to Scripps Park to check out the sea lions at the cove. We wanted to do this the last time we were here but just ran out of time, so we did this first and then went to lunch! The parking was kind of crazy, so it seemed like the earlier the better to grab a space near the park!
Not only is this area absolutely stunning, it was SO fun to be so close to these big guys! There was a viewing area up top, and you can also walk down to the beach during certain times of the year.
It was overcast and cool today, not too crowded!
We forgot flip flops in the car, so while Dad went back to grab those, we took a few pictures at the top. 🙂 Aren’t Daddies so nice?! Always carrying our things and running to the car to get what we need hehe!
This big guy was cracking me up! Just lounging around without a care in the world!
A group of sea lions resting among some rocks, can you spot them all??
I love these brothers so much!
The water was FREEZING! I was cracking up at the boys running into the water and immediately regretting their decision haha! I could not believe how many people were there snorkeling or swimming around, some had wet suits but some did not! Insanity!
Loved these walk through passages…
Adored this scene of a pup with her mama…also I could completely relate to the mama being completely exhausted and just laying there while the pup nursed haha…
Truly just so neat!
After spending some time at the cove, we walked back to our car and drove back into town. I wish I would have taken more pictures of downtown La Jolla, it is adorable. Very walkable, lots of cute shops and places to eat. If we were moving to California, I would seriously think about living here haha!
We found parking and ate lunch at George’s on the roof. We did this last time too and love it. The views are so nice and the food is yummy!
The boys even tried some shrimp today hehe!
After lunch, we headed to the Birch Aquarium. It’s a smaller aquarium so it didn’t take long, but it’s still worth a visit if you have the time!
Jude got this eel at the gift shop and definitely wore it through the airport on our way home haha…
I love watching them look at things, just seeing what interests them and their reactions…
Jenson loved this sheep crab!
Jellyfish!
Lots of cool stuff to see!
Love this family of mine!
Jenson stole Jacob’s hat haha…
Jude especially loves creatures, so enamored by the unique ones.
The world’s smallest penguins! They were so cute!
I love seahorses, it always amazes me how unique they look, and I love that the Dad’s take over the mothering duties haha…
Sharks and rays tank!
Our children got eaten by a shark while we were there!
So beautiful, could have stayed here all day!
Jackson was brave and held some scarlet cleaner shrimp! They would swim over to your hand and crawl all over it, it was so fun to watch!
Outside on the terrace, they had multiple touching tanks with sea anemones, starfish and other things to check out.
I love watching them explore. 🙂
Ok this was so cool….shark eggs, like a real live shark egg, with a real shark baby inside. Just floors me how amazing God’s creation is.
This was a horn shark egg, isn’t the spiral shape incredible???
Just in case you missed my other views of the water hehe…
My Dad has gotten the boys into smushing pennies when we travel. We did this growing up all the time and they love it too!
Downton is so pretty, jacarandas everywhere!
After the aquarium, we headed back to the hotel and rested a bit, and then headed back out for a fun evening!
We parked the car and walked to….
Petco Park for a baseball game!
This place was packed!
Yummy pizza for dinner! I was cracking up at Jacob in the background haha…
This kid cracks me up so much!
Love traveling with these guys!
It was Hawaiian night and cold, so shirt for a blanket it is!
Love this boy so much!
It was quite the walk back to the car and we were pooped, so we grabbed one of those guys that rides the bicycles around to take us back to our car! It was so fun!
The end of a fun night!
This kid was worn out, asleep before the lights were off! Aren’t his eyelashes amazing? Love them so much.
