We woke up Sunday morning to our first full day in San Diego!
We started off with Daddy grabbing breakfast sandwiches from the cafe here and enjoying them and yummy coffee on the patio! (Ignore the messy beds in the background haha… also Jenson refused to come outside, I promise we weren’t shunning him!!!)
Playing out on the green and enjoying our slow cool morning!
One of our favorite things to do when traveling is to worship with other Christians in the city we are visiting! So we headed off to worship with the Seminole Church of Christ today! (Isn’t Jackson a great little photographer!?)
We visited here years ago, a sweet group of people!
I love that no matter where you go, you can find God’s people.
These beautiful purple trees are everywhere in San Diego! I looked them up and they are called Jacarandas, and they are San Diego’s official urban tree!
We were starving after worship, and after checking out Yelp, we settled on some BBQ today!
Del’s Hideout was SO delicious, I basically wanted to order everything on the menu haha! Also, so proud of these boys that can bring non-screen items to work on while we’re waiting on food. One of my goals for them is for them to be able to sit at a table without being distracted by a screen and hold a conversation with whoever they are eating with! π
After lunch, we went back to our hotel and changed clothes, and then headed to Balboa park. Apparently everyone and their dog (truly, there were tons of dogs there haha…) show up to the park on Sunday afternoons. We were so excited though because we got here in time to hear the outdoor organ concert. This is the largest outdoor organ in the world, and the guy playing it was amazing.
So thankful for our Daddy who dropped us off and then fought the crowds to find parking! π
Beautiful Japanese gardens, you needed a ticket to walk through them so we just too a moment to admire them from afar. π
We stopped at the visitor’s center area to grab some zoo tickets for this week! You get a very slight discount buying them here. I had memories of Jackson driving his monster trucks around this fountain years ago!
This park is so beautiful, we love walking around and looking at the plants and buildings! The botanical garden exhibits were closed at this time, building was under construction, so we were disappointed about that!
It’s easy to see why so many people come out here on the weekend!
We headed to the Fleet Science Center next!
We stopped off for some ice cream first though!
There’s a ton to see here! This is the younger kid’s city area, but the boys still liked looking through here for a bit.
Always looking for an opportunity to fight with something haha…
They loved this ball system!
And running through this light tunnel!
A nod to Kodiak Gas haha!
They LOVED this topography table…they would move the sand around and the light would change as the levels changed in the sand, it was pretty cool.
Rotating disc table was cool too, they loved trying to slide their discs across the center.
Using a flip flop to make some music? Sure, why not??!
They did in fact finish this haha…
And Jude built “Fox Tower!”
I almost bought this for my parents haha….but then I decided to save my money and just take a picture instead! π
After a full day, we walked back to the car.
We had dinner at the resort again, and then spent some time outside!
This little kitty was in the same spot every evening, so we named it Mission Taco Gato haha, I don’t know why but it worked.
Beautiful sunset!
And some fun fireworks!
A little blurry but we had a good time watching!
Jenson got this little lantern key chain today, it’s so cute!
That’s the end of our second day! Check out our first day here, and our previous San Diego trip until my Travel tab!
