A shorter post for a LONG day to travel home!
Grabbed an ice coffee one more time, and loaded up to head home. Tired but happy. 🙂
I can check New Jersey off of our states list haha!
Norman is all settled in and ready to go! We were a little nervous about our flight getting out because there was a HUGE storm system all across the east coast that was making it difficult for planes to get approved flight paths out.
And we were nervous for good reason…after we boarded our flight, we sat on the runway for three hours and timed out right before we could have taken off. By law, they had to return back to the gate to let us off the plan. Let me tell you, 15 more minutes and we “probably” would have made it out of there. No one, especially the sad screaming toddlers and babies were happy about this.
Meanwhile, back in College Station, my sweet parents were at evening church services with my babies. We had booked an early flight trying to make it back for this, but obviously that didn’t work out!
We sat in the terminal for another 3 hours I think…our flight kept getting pushed back over and over, and we started looking for other flight options home, because there was a good chance it was going to get canceled from lack of pilots or crew available. FINALLY, they moved the flight up and we got to reboard. I had just about started crying because if it had gotten canceled, it would have been another 2-3 days before we would have been able to get a flight out home.
We took off in pouring rain, stayed low under the clouds, but made it out. Whew!
The neat thing about flying out of a storm in the evening is the beautiful sky to see…I sat there just staring and watching the clouds and sun setting for the longest time.
The most gorgeous sunset peaking through the storm clouds.
I don’t know that I’ve ever been so happy to be back in Houston haha!!
The boys promptly showered me with cute homemade cards and gifts as soon as I work up the next day. Jenson gave me a dollar, and Jude gave me two dollars from their wallets, it was so cute. Jackson had asked my Mom to bring him to Target so he could pick out a coffee mug for me, my heart was just so full seeing these generous boys love on their mama.
And then we had to break out the souvenirs!
We said good bye to my sweet parents and they headed back home. Don’t know what I would do without them!
Hope you enjoyed our little get away and celebration in New York! Check out the other days below!
I thought it would also be fun to drop the links to our first trip here on this post! Jackson is sooo little and it still boggles my mind that our first trip with him was to New York haha, not the most baby friendly city, but we made it! Hope you enjoy seeing our travels from almost ten years ago!
