Getting through the year! Hard to believe it is already November! I’ll be honest, my reads this month weren’t the greatest. When I went back to see what I had read for this month, you know, because I’m always behind… I was like, “That’s it???” hahaha…needless to say, sometimes months are like that with reading. The books are ok, but not astounding. Kind of where I was this month.
I wanted to finish the Shopaholic series this month, and I am very proud that I did! There are NINE books in this series, NINE!!! They’re silly fun reads though, and any time I was looking for something easy that made me giggle, I would look up one of these. 😉 “Shopaholic to the Stars” was a cute read, probably not my favorite of her books, but still enjoyable. Becky and her family have come to California because her husband is working public relations with a famous actress. Becky tries so hard to break through as a stylist, trying every move up her sleeve, sacrificing so much that is dear to her. Will she see that it’s not worth it?
“Shopaholic to the Rescue” was the 8th book of the series, picking up off where book seven left off. Becky’s father has mysteriously disappeared with Suze’s husband, and everyone is hysterical about it of course! So they all set off in a huge rented RV to figure out what Becky’s dad has got himself into. It involves a lot of background from her dad’s life before he had Becky, and the whole family and all of the friends get involved in an “Oceans 11” type of operation to solve the problem! It was a good conclusion I thought to the whole series, I enjoyed reading this one!
I read the ninth book a long time ago, “Christmas Shopaholic”, and it was super cute! It was actually the first book I read of this series, so it was fun to go back and read the whole story of Becky Bloomwood!
You know how I enjoy a seasonal read, so when I saw “Picture Perfect Autumn,” I couldn’t resist throwing it in this month! Overall, it was a cute read, but it was a little slow or drawn out at times. It was one of those books that just took me a while to get through, it just couldn’t quite keep my attention, so I am a bit on the fence about it in general. Dani, who is a hotshot photographer artist, has tracked down Lawerence Sinclair, a retired photographer, to see if he can help her find what her photos are missing, to unlock the reason why she was an artist in the first place. Dani gets more than she has bargained for, helping a small town save their art program, and also helping Lawerence himself with some family issues he has, and possibly finding love herself. 😉
I read “Attachments” this year by Rainbow Rowell and really loved it, so I was interested to read other books she had written. “Landline” wasn’t quite what I thought it would be, overall a cute book, but again, I’m on the fence about it. Wasn’t blown away by this one. Georgie writes scripts for sitcoms, and knows her marriage it in trouble. Of course she gets an offer of a lifetime, but to work on it, she has to skip a Christmas trip with her daughters and husband and stay home to work on it. She is torn, but stays home, visiting her mom’s house and spending a lot of time in her old room, where she finds a yellow land line phone, which connects her to her past with her husband. It was a cute story, and overall I appreciated how it all worked out and the sentiment, but I do struggle with these blast to the past kind of plot lines sometimes haha!
I listened to “Anxious Kids” this month, and wow was it helpful. If you have a child struggling with anxiety or anxious feelings, this is must read. So much good information on all fronts for you and your child.
