I’m definitely drawn to darker genres during this time of the year, lots of murder mysteries and fantasy type reads this month, with a couple of self help thrown in too haha!

I enjoyed the “Serpent and Dove” series this month, one of those that maybe didn’t quite measure up to my beloved Sarah J. Maas, but still felt like it was an interesting story to read. Lou, flees her coven of witches after her mother tries to kill her, and avoids all magic trying to survive in the city and not bring attention to herself. Witches are hunted and killed by the huntsmen. All of that crumbles away though, when Lou makes a huge scene involving the head huntsman, Reid. They are then forced into a marriage together, and she is brought into the castle, surrounded by so many who would want her dead if they knew what she was.

I listened to “The Body in the Library” by Agatha Christie this month. I enjoyed this straight forward murder mystery, the simple plot and deduction of murder by Miss. Marple.

Still rereading Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series! “Tower of Dawn” is probably my least favorite of the series, but I still love the story lines of some of the more minor characters in this series!

I think most of us, by the time we reach adulthood, have had someone cross our paths who has either really hurt us, or maybe just hasn’t quite meshed with our person…and has basically just been hard to love. I appreciated all of the great Biblical reminders from “Loving People Who are Hard to Love,” and felt like it was just a really good refresh for how to live life with other people.

In the second book of the series, “Blood and Honey,” Lou, Reid and their friends are on the run from the king and his huntsmen. They are looking for allies, in the darkest of places, trying to piece together the story of what really happened long ago with her own coven of witches to save themselves today.

Hercule Poirot this time, in “The ABC Murders!” I listened to this one too and again enjoyed how Hercule worked through all of the clues to solve this one. I love the simplicity of Agatha Christie’s books. Just always good little reads.

Finished up the series this month with “Gods and Monsters.” This book was a doozy haha, the ending was crazy!! I was glad to finish up this one, as I felt like it was a little all over the place. Lou fights the biggest battle with her mother, regaining what is owed to her, tying up all of those lose ends and ready to reestablish her kingdom.

I really liked listening to “The Ritual Effect.” I think we underestimate sometimes how those little moments throughout our days can make them really special! There is a lot of importance in those things we incorporate in our days as habits, but when we shift our view of them to make them more ritualistic, we can find more presence and enjoyment from our days.
