Well Jacob and I will flying to Sydney, Australia tomorrow! I feel like it wasn’t too long ago that I was packing up to go to Singapore, checking into flights and getting my passport packed! Jacob and I always enjoy taking a vacation in the summer, and this year we are celebrating our fifth anniversary, so we saved up to take a nicer trip than usual! We are super excited about visiting Sydney and have some things planned that I’m hoping I’ll be able to share with you while we are there. We are supposed to have wi-fi at the hotel, but you never know how good it will be until you get there. A couple of things we have planned are to go to an Opera (The Pearl Fisher) at the Sydney Opera House and to also take an excursion to the Blue Mountain area to view some of the outback! We will also be able to see the Olympic Park and see some animals up close at the Featherdale park. The rest of the week we will be visiting museums and other historical buildings, the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Aquarium among other things.
Jacey always senses when we are about to take a trip, and gets a little anxious but then is ok. This time Aunt Joanna is coming to stay with her at our house and hang out for the week.

So ironically enough, Australia is actually the first place to breed labradoodles!!! I had read about it before when we were thinking about getting a labradoodle and looked it up again… According to wikipedia (I know, such a creditable source!)…
The first known use of the term “Labradoodle” was by Sir Donald Campbell to describe his Labrador/Poodle cross dog in his 1955 book, “Into the Water Barrier”. However, the Labradoodle became better known in 1988, when Australian breeder Wally Conron crossed the Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle at Guide Dogs Victoria.
Conron’s aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of the Labrador, and to provide a guide dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander. Although Guide Dogs Victoria no longer breed Labradoodles, they are bred by other guide and assistance dog organizations in Australia and other places. The Association for the Blind of Western Australia have introduced Labradoodles into their training program, and their first, Jonnie, graduated in November 2010.Labradoodles are now widely used around the world as guide, assistance, and therapy dogs as well as being popular family dogs.
I love that the author shares the same last name as us and think that it is just hilarious that Australia is where the labradoodle originated from! Jacey thought it would be good to show everyone where we are going… lol I just crack myself up sometimes…
Jacey is obsessed with my travel pillow, she always goes and gets it out of our room and runs around with it. I thought tonight she could help test it out for tomorrow. ;0)
