Corpus Christi, TX – July 2021: Day 1

We wanted to take a trip this summer, but kind of like last summer just wanted it to be easy. We love going down to Corpus, it’s not a long drive, the beaches are nice, and there lots of yummy local places to eat and things to do. Here’s our first day!

We got packed up, dropped off Jacey at her doggie resort and headed out! It’s about 4.5 hours from College Station to Corpus Chrisit, and since we are staying on Padre Island this time, it added on a bit more to drive down to the island.

Road trips always require stops for treats, right?? 🙂

I always enjoy driving by the wind farms down closer to Corpus, it’s amazing how big they are and really cool to watch them working! There are hundreds of them!

Well, living in the somewhat small town that we do, traffic is never an issue anymore haha, how quickly we forget to factor in work hour traffic! We weren’t rushed leaving today, but didn’t think about the fact that we would be arriving right when people were getting off of work. We had a bit of traffic getting through the city, but Jenson slept through most of it hehe.

We finally made it to the hotel on Padre Island! So funny story… we were following Google maps to get to the hotel, but when we arrived to the supposedly correct address, the hotel was obviously closed and run down, definitely not in use. We kind of started panicking because we just didn’t see anywhere else that would be a possible option for the hotel we were looking for. I finally called the hotel, and the lady I talked to was like you are here, right in front of us. I started laughing because of course, that was impossible. She said no, look on the other side of the street. And there it was haha, right behind us. The sign was SO tiny, we were just laughing so hard that we had missed it. But for a few minutes we were majorly stressed thinking we had been scammed haha…

We had picked up yummy Brooklyn Pie Co. pizza on the way in! Their pizzas are HUGE. The medium is what a normal large would look like!

We let the boys play a bit and then got sandals on to head down to the beach for a walk!

Someone is ready! Haha, I love how silly he is.

Our hotel was right across the street from the beach, so it was easy to walk over.

Such a pretty evening for a beach walk!

You had to know this was coming haha…beach walk turned into impromptu beach swim!

He loved it so much!

Got everyone cleaned up and snuggled up in bed for stories! Simple day, but sometimes those are the best kind. I’ve made some posts from our trip last year, where we stayed at a hotel in town if you are interested in those! You can find them under my travel tab or these links below!
