Some good ones this month! Kicking it off with my favorite – Sarah J. Maas ๐
Still working through this series for the second time, and still loving it. In the “Queen of Shadows,” Aelin takes her place as Queen, but must continue to fight for it. I know I’ve said this before, just read it. ๐
A lot of mixed feelings on “When the Moon Hatched”…I think throughout the majority of the book I kept wondering why I was still reading it. It was pretty long, and honestly the language and culture was kind of confusing to get into, like you literally step into a completely different world each time you open the book. It was interesting, and I think I kept just wondering where the storyline was going to go, but I don’t really have a desire to read the second book. There is a decent amount of violence in this one, and just content that I wouldn’t advise for a younger reader.
I listened to “Four Thousand Weeks – Time Management for Mortals” and enjoyed it. I always just appreciate books like this that bring good reminders to my mind and help me refocus. Thinking about our lives within the context of being around four thousand weeks long on average, definitely makes you think more about how you spend your time.
Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite authors, and “Darling Girls” didn’t disappoint. Three girls are adopted into a home with a “Miss Fairchild,” but it doesn’t end up being the nice and cheery home that it looks like on the outside. The girls deal with a lot of manipulation from their “mother,” and eventually find a way to break free from the madness. A mysterious murder in connection with the home the grew up in pulls them all back together and brings to light the reality of the history they suffered together.
I loved “Meet You in the Middle!” It was so cute, and so appropriate considering we are coming up on an election soon! Kate and Ben both work for opposing sides of politics, both with agendas, both blocking each other any change they get. I’m sure you can guess how it will end up for them. ๐
Hello “Empire of Storms!” Looovvvee this one, one of my favorites in the series. Just read it already!
Picking up another cute read from Sarah Adams! I don’t think I have found one yet that I haven’t liked! “Temporary Roomie” was the second in this series, Jessie moving in with her friend’s doctor brother to be his fake girlfriend and so she has a place to live for a bit. Of course, you know how fake relationships go hehe…
“The Last of the Moon Girls” was very good too. Lizzie Moon left Moon Girl farm to pursue her dreams, but when her Grandmother passes away, she is forced to return and deal with the situation of the farm and all that comes with its reputation. Two girls were found murdered on their farm years ago, and she decides she must clear her grandmother’s name before she can return home.
“The Matchmaker” was cute too by Catherine Walsh. Katie lives with her grandmother and has had no desire to ever leave her small Irish town for bigger and better things. She works at a pub and is happy with the way things are. However, there are big plans for the town, for a huge resort to be built, which would require the pub to be torn down for the land. Katie throws herself into saving the pub, and the town, by resurrecting the Matchmaking festival. Very cute little romantic read. ๐
I listened to “The Comfort Crisis” and really enjoyed this. Michael Easter talks a lot about pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone, spending more time outside just being uncomfortable. A lot of really good thoughts, and very interesting following him on his trip through the Alaskan backcountry, but I could have done without the language, just seemed unnecessary.
