Great little round up of books this month!

Ooooo “Dumbing Us Down” was a good one. Ever wonder where public education came from? Ever think about what people did prior to being forced into mass schooling for their kids? Ever really sat and thought about how a “one size fits all approach” is really effecting our kids? This was a great read. I’ve had thoughts that at some point we might go back to public school if our kids wanted to, but after reading this, I’m even more convinced that we have made the right choice for our family. Very interesting read.

“Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone” was a good read. I love murder mysteries, and enjoyed this one! Ernest’s family meets up at a ski resort for a family reunion, and of course someone dies…it’s up to Ernest to figure out what happened, when literally, everyone in his family has killed someone.

I enjoyed listening to “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories” by Kelly Ripa, but I will warn you that there was a lot more language in this one than I was prepared for! I have loved watching Kelly on her morning show for years and years, and even though I don’t get to watch her daily, I’ve always enjoyed it when I can. She had a lot of funny stories to share, and decent life advice to share as well, but there were definitely some inappropriate things in there as well!

I really have enjoyed reading Leah Brunner’s series. “Passion or Penalty” was really cute. Melanie reconnects with her brother’s best friend, who happens to be an amazing hockey player, and also who she sent an embarrassing video of how she was in love with him at one point too, and it wasn’t reciprocated. But maybe now that years have passed, things have changed between them?

I love listening/reading 1800s rom-com type novels, and “To Have and to Hoax” was cute! Lady Violet and Lord James fall in love, get married and promptly have the argument of the century and proceed to live separate lives barely speaking to one another. A supposed injury to James brings Violet back around, and she’s determined to teach him a lesson by pretending to be sick herself. He plays along, and eventually they find their way back to each other.

I always enjoy a good bit of alliteration, so the title “Ona Out of Order” caught my eye hehe. This book was interesting, but also entertaining. Ona has her whole life ahead of her, but at midnight on her 19th birthday, she passes out, and awakens thirty years into the future. She continues to bounce around in the years of her life, piecing things together as she goes. It really was a cool book, I was a little skeptical at first but I enjoyed reading this one.

“First-Time Caller” was a cute read, but also rather inappropriate at times, so I was kind of on the fence about this. Might not completely recommend it, but it was hard for me to resist the “Sleepless in Seattle” setting. Aiden, a radio broadcaster, has fallen out of love, when Lucie gets roped into doing a radio show with him to find her own true love.

I love books about the enneagram and personality types, so “The Path Between Us” definitely hit the spot! I loved reviewing the enneagram types, and then also diving deeper into how each number impacts another. I feel like anything I can read to help me understand the friends and family I have in my life is a good read!

There are days I wish that I had the time to just read for hours haha…thanks for stopping by and checking out my book reviews!
