I love using Goodreads to keep up with what I’ve been reading over the year, and one of my favorite things is that at the end of the year it gives this cool synopsis of what you have read! I took screen shots so I could share it here and then at the end I’ll share which books were my favorites for this year! Whether you read more or less than I did, I think the important thing is that you are reading! A friend of mine read 100 books this year and I couldn’t believe it haha! I hope you have all had an excellent reading journey this year, I am already looking forward to what 2022 will bring! Thanks for following along with me this year!
One of my goals for this year is to rate every book I read, I tend to not give some ratings so I know that average of 3.7 isn’t very accurate haha!
And there they are! I love love love the way they all get together like a little puzzle on the app! It’s so cool to scroll through and see every single book from the year! It was actually really hard to pick my three favorites from this year, The top two were pretty obvious but the third was tough! I’d love to hear what your favorites were from this year too, I’m always looking for new reads to put on my list for this new year!
My favorite book from this year was “The Rose Code.” This was overwhemingly obvious, I didn’t have to think about it for long haha! I love the story of the code breaking women and how they influenced the war, as well as the story of their relationship and what bound them together. It was one of those books I couldn’t put down and had trouble moving on from!
My second favorite read from this year was “The Mountain Between Us.” It was another one that I just needed time to process and could not move on from…the story of Ben and Ashley being stranded in the middle of a snowstorm in the Utah wilderness and their story of survival was amazing. I loved the way their experiences were a healing to the struggles he had endured, and even though what came out in the end was heartbreaking, I loved how this novel ended. It was a twist I wasn’t expecting and everything suddenly made sense. Highly recommend this one!
It was a little harder to chose my third pick, but I went with “The Four Winds.” Even though I wasn’t crazy with the ending, it was so well written and so captivating…I could not put this one down. I have said before that Kristin Hannah was one of the authors that really got me reading again, and if you read this I think you will see why. She has so many great books out there, “The Great Alone,” “The Nightingale” and “The Winter Garden” are some of my other favorites from her.
A few other books I wanted to mention that were in the running….
I really enjoyed reading “When the Stars Go Dark,” “The Curse So Dark and Lonely” series and also “West With Giraffes.” I would love any suggestions you might have and to hear what you have been reading! Looking forward to this new year of books and what enrichment it brings to my life! Happy reading friends!

You beat me by two books this year; I read 60. We’ve read a couple of the same ones and a few of yours are waiting on my TBR list. I absolutely adore Charles Martin, and if this was your first by him you have a lot more to love. My favorite of his is probably When Crickets Cry, but that could be because it was my first. I own a couple of his nonfiction books and hope to get to one or both of them this year.
Haha I love that so much Debi! I’d love to see your list!!! I have Crickets Cry on my library “to be borrowed” list, I’m so glad to hear that it was your favorite! I’m looking forward to reading more from him!
