I love my Goodreads app for so many reasons, but one of the things I have a lot of fun doing is setting a reading challenge for the year and trying to hit it! I set my goal this year for 55 books and ended up with 57!! This just means a lot to me personally, I love setting goals and working for them, but I also love the knowledge and experiences gained from this time invested in reading. I try to be very intentional about making time to read, I would encourage you to do so too! I cannot recommend it enough!
Another things I like about the Goodreads app, is that it gives you a ‘Year in Books” to look at, so you can see all of the books you read throughout the year in one place! I took some screen shots to show you next, and after that I will pick my three favorite reads from the year!
I will say that it was hard narrowing down my list to just three books from the year, there were so many I wanted to recommend for different reasons. These three I’m listing just stood out the most, but I’m going to share a few more that were pretty good contenders too!
“Fountains of Silence” came in as my third favorite read from the year, I just felt like it had so much to offer from an educational standpoint on a specific culture and time in history, but also just from an interest standpoint and being in general a good story. I learned a lot and really enjoyed how everything ended up with the characters!
I kicked off this year with the “Throne of Glass” Series, and literally read nothing else but Sarah J. Mass for three straight months. It was an incredible series, but out of all of those books, her first one really got me. I absolutely could not put this book down. It was just so vivid, such a good story, so creative and different than anything I had read before. I would read this book again, and that says a lot!
When I went back and looked through my list from this year, my most favorite book was a no brainer. Out of the 57 books I read this year, this one stood out the most. I think because of it being a true story, and one of perseverance, loss, hard work and just life, it really just stayed with me. Especially because of the events from this 2020 year, it made me realize that truly there is nothing new under the sun, and life is what you make of it. I ordered a paper back copy of this book because I want to read it to my boys when they are older…I want them to see that you can come from nothing and accomplish incredible things, if only you put your mind to it and work for it. This is a book everyone needs to read.
There were a few other books that caught my eye as I was looking through my list and just wanted to jot those down before I headed out! “American Royals” was such a cute little read about what America would have been like had we remained a monarchy rather than created a democracy, “The Wife Stalker” was a great psychological thriller that I could not put down – great twist at the end, and “The Girl You Left Behind” was a great story as well about how a portrait of a woman during WW2 made it’s way into the present age and the story behind it.
I appreciate all of my little bookworm followers, and I hope so much that you find reads along the way that grab your interest! I’m so excited to see what I can get my hands on for 2021 and will continue sharing it here! Happy New Year my friends!

I am so impressed that you read 57 books!!
Haha, thanks mom!!!
You beat me by a bit. I read 50 this year. Putting a Bluetooth in my shower several months ago made it easier to get in some audio reading since I wasn’t in the car as much. I don’t make a top-10 list, but I do journal my books,
Ok, I love the shower bluetooth idea, and I love that you journal about your books! That is such a great idea! And way to go hitting 50, that is awesome!!!!
