Waco, TX – March, 2021: Days 1 and 2

For Spring Break this year, we just wanted to get away for a few days and do something easy. That, and the fact that Jacob has been super busy with work and wasn’t sure if he would be able to get away until last minute meant that we needed something close and again, easy haha. Waco is about an hour and half from us, there’s plenty to do, good food to eat, so it was a good option for a quick Spring Break trip. Here’s a look at the first two days we were there!

Headed out! I always grab little surprises for them when we have car rides, mainly because my Mom did it for me growing up and I thought it was so fun, and because they all get car sick pretty easily and it gives them something to look at or hold since they can’t really watch shows, read or play games.

We stopped at the Silos as soon as we got into town so we could walk around and eat lunch there. It was pretty crowded, but I think that is the usual there. Just go expecting to wait in lines and be around lots of people!

Love these three brothers so much. 🙂

The Cheddar Box is my favorite place for lunch here, they have the best fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, and yummy bacon mac and cheese that you definitely need to try! Jacob grabbed pizza for the boys but there are other yummy options too! Again, be prepared to wait in lines!

Waiting in line with Mommy!

Lunch time! We were lucky enough to grab a spot at a table!

The boys finished eating and played a little while we ate. Kind of like a date, right? Haha…

Grabbing a sweet tea at the tea truck is a must too! I love the little cups that it comes in!

After we ate lunch, Jacob played with the boys in the green space and I went into the Magnoila store to do a little shopping. 🙂

We walked back to the newer part that opened recently, it was cute, had a little baseball field that the kids could play in and some other places to eat.

After the Silos, we went and found our hotel and got checked in.

The boys always like playing on the luggage carts haha…

We all laid down for a bit so the boys could rest, snacks were eaten and shows were watched. 🙂 After they played for a bit, we headed out to dinner.

Our hotel was in this little circle of hotels and restaurants, we walked over to Walk Ons and at in their open seating area by the water. It was so nice!

After dinner, we walked around and let the boys play a bit.

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast at the hotel, and then did worship service live streamed. We usually like to attend local congregations when we travel, but with COVID, new groups of people and everywhere having different rules we just opted to do it at the hotel. In either case, I think it is important for your kids to know that you stop and worship God on His day in whatever way you can, even if you aren’t at home. 🙂

After finishing up with church, we headed to Cameron Park Zoo. We got a membership here this year and it has already paid for itself. We love this zoo so much, it is beautiful and open, easy to navigate and they have so many different animals!

So while we at the tiget exhibit, someone had brought their dog with them, and that tiger pounced to the edge so fast when that dog walked by! It was crazy, he was growling too, very predatory haha…

Jude was so excited to see the komodo dragons! I love that he wanted a map this time we were there too.

These chimpanzees were hilarious, messing with each other and playing with their blankets. I told Jacob that it looked like the boys messing with each other in the mornings on the couch haha…

I love elephants so much!

So many of the exhibits are very open feeling and natural, you can get so close to the animals.

I love giraffes too! So beautiful!

We ate lunch at the zoo, and the little kids meals came with these bags. Jenson carried his around for the longest time with his little treasures in it.

Lots of great aquatic exhibits too here!

Showing you all of my favorites in this post!

This guy was so stoic!

We made our way around to the front where they have a gelato truck and a playground, so of course we stopped for treats and playtime!

Bald eagle!

The zoo also has a really delicious coffee truck, so you know we grabbed that on the way out. 😉

The boys love sonic but we hardly ever eat there, we figured after a long day outside it was an easy dinner to grab! We grabbed ourselves P.F. Changs and it was sooo delicious!

Check out the next two days in the link below!
