I have been wanting to rewrite the introduction to this section for a while now, but I haven’t really been able to pin point in my mind what I want to be here in this space. What I have concluded lately, is that the needs of your body may change over time, and what once worked and was good for you, may not be the solution for you five years later.
Lately, I have been experiencing a number of symptoms that I think are related to adrenal exhaustion of some sort, and I’ve wondered if maybe it has influenced other things going on. While I’m waiting to get into an endocrinologist here, I have had lots of time to read and talk to others who may be experiencing similar things.
What I have stumbled upon in my research is an approach to food called metabolic eating. Along with that and other dietary changes I have made to support my adrenals, I have been slowly feeling some improvements here and there, for which I am so thankful. I have modified the activity and exercise I am doing as well and really just saying no to things and resting as much as I can.
In saying that, we haven’t been as focused on eating Whole30 or Paleo, but rather eating real foods as much as possible and listening to my body, what I’m craving and when I’m craving it. Working on my mindset has been a huge part of this, accepting my body where it is and how it looks, honoring it and being grateful for it rather than feeling like I need to deprive it of something because it is lacking. People, our bodies are amazing. They can do and have done so much, apologize to your body for being too hard on yourself and choose to be grateful, forget the number on the scale and just go enjoy your life to the fullest extent possible. I have in mind that I want to do more posts on this but odds are I won’t get around to it, so this may be it for now!
I am leaving my posts up about Whole30, because I do believe that there are times it is helpful. It was in the past for us, but right now we are doing things a little differently, and that’s ok.
I also want to say that most of the recipes here are from others, and are considered “recipe highlights” from my searches. I do my best to always link my sources, and then list my adjustments or changes that I made when I was cooking. There are a few recipes I have put together myself, but if they are someone else’s creation, I definitely want to give credit where it is due!
I have also listed some posts below that are directed more towards nutrition, which include our Whole30 meal plans and information. Let me say this loud and clear…I am no expert hah! And I have no formal training! This is just a mom, trying to learn all that she can to improve her health, and of course wanting to share what I’ve learned with you. I very much hope that something here is helpful to you.
