A May Weekend in Galveston

There is nothing more that I love than a good weekend away, especially when a beach is involved. We have had family pictures taken in Galveston for Jackson and Jude when they turned one, so of course when Jenson turned one I was hoping to have the same done for him.

Having a sister for a professional wedding photographer is about the best thing I could ask for haha, she has been so kind to take family pictures for us over the last six years. And friends, she is just SO. GOOD. Every time we get together, I think that none of the pictures will turn out well but she always works her magic and somehow is able to grab shots of everyone looking and smiling, and some of the best moments are when we aren’t paying attention. I could never thank her enough for how she has cataloged my little family growing over the years.

We coordinated a weekend to meet in Galveston, and since it was Jude’s birthday we made special plans to celebrate him that Saturday as well. It was so nice to get away and just have meals and moments together without worrying about dishes or rushing from one thing to the next.

We packed up on Friday, Jacob got home from work early and we headed down to the Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston.

It’s always a good thing when the nugget will nap in the car on the way! The boys were super excited!img_5297-1.jpg

We booked a room at the Moody Gardens Hotel, which we have never stayed at before! It was really nice! We enjoyed the quiet feeling there, the rooms were clean and everyone was nice! We got a room on the Bay side, so we could still have views of the water while we were there!

Always wrestling I tell you!

This boy is walking walking everywhere!

We went to the Spot for dinner, they have the best burgers and milkshakes there! After we ate there, we walked across the street to the beach so the boys could play for a few minutes before we went back to our room for bedtime! Also, can I just say how much I enjoy talking to random people when you are out? This super sweet couple was sitting at the table next to us, and shared that they were about to go on a cruise the next day. But they were also former Aggies and had grandchildren as well, it was just really nice talking to them. It makes me think that you just never know when you will run into someone and have a nice conversation.

I say it all the time, but I love these three little boys. They are the light of my life, just so thankful for them and who they are growing into being.

Saturday morning we got up and went to a donut shop down the road to treat this big boy to his birthday donut! I cannot believe my Jude baby is FOUR!

We opted to eat outside because it was packed inside and we have three kids HAH.

After breakfast, we came back to the hotel for a few minutes so Jude could open a few of his birthday presents that we brought along and so I could nurse Jenson before we headed over to the aquarium.

My parents always call on our birthdays and sing to us, and I just love so much that they reach out to my kids like this and make it such a sweet tradition!

My FOUR year old! Love this boy so much.

Since we were staying at the Moody Gardens hotel, we could just walk over to the aquarium. All in all, we enjoyed our time there, but it was a little smaller than I was expecting for how much it cost to get in! They were doing some renovations as well, but we still enjoyed the exhibits that they had!img_5385-1.jpg

They boys thought this underwater tunnel was fun! Lots to see here in this huge tank!

All the birthday boy wanted today was to see a shark, so he got his wish!

We came back to the hotel so Jenson could take a nap before we did pictures that evening!

Here are just a couple of shots from my sister’s session! I love this family one of us so much! It was a little cloudy that day, but seriously, she knows how to still make your family look good haha!

Sunday morning, we got up and drove to church in Houston where Jacob’s parents attend, and then had lunch with them. Since it was Mother’s Day, I told Jacob I wanted to pick lunch and asked for Gringo’s!

So fun seeing a couple of our little friends today too!

Hope you enjoyed a peak into our weekend! Hoping to have many more in the future!
